BARGAIN HUNTER

Who doesn’t love a bargain? Looks like a lot of us, judging from the million-plus results that the phrase “bargain hunter” returns on a Google search.

Less well-known is that bargain hunting may be genetically rooted. A 2021 article by Alison Escalante followed researchers looking into this phenomenon. What their study found is that “70 percent of the variability in ‘deal proneness’ was associated with variability in genetic factors. In other words, bargain hunting is genetic.”
