I RECENTLY spotted one of our journalists vaping and was surprised. “I didn’t know you smoke,” I told her.
“I don’t!” she replied. “It’s just vaping.”
I thought about that exchange as I read our story about the dangers of vaping on page 40. The rise of vaping among teens is becoming an increasing concern, especially because “it’s just vaping” seems to be the general vibe.
But as experts point out, it’s just as dangerous as smoking and the effects on developing minds and bodies are devastating. It’s easier to hide too because it doesn’t smell, which means parents might be oblivious to the fact their teens are getting in on the action.
I’m all for teens learning how to navigate their lives and test boundaries – I know this is one of those things too. I just wonder how many of them know how truly dangerous it is. They scoff at cigarettes
