BREATH IN, DRIFT OFF
acing thoughts keeping you awake at night? To help you relax before bedtime, try this diaphragmatic breathing technique (also known as belly breathing) from Dr Walt Pickut, a sleep disorder: ‘Lie on your back with your knees bent. Place one hand on your chest and the other on your belly. Take a deep breath in through your nose for about two seconds. You should experience the air moving through your nostrils into your abdomen, making your stomach expand. During this type of breathing, make sure your stomach is moving outward, while your chest remains relatively still. Exhale slowly for about two seconds.’
