BEGINNER’S GUIDE TO: QUILTING STENCILS
Quilting with stencils is an easy way to give your projects a professional finish and add an extra special touch. By marking out the designs and following the lines, you can create some wonderful quilting effects… like our retro leafy design that comes with this issue! As with our exclusive stencil, many quilting stencils are made so that they join up and create a design that can be quilted in one continuous line, which helps reduce the number of threads to bury too – result!
DIFFERENT MARKERS TO TRY:
AQUA MARKER
Aqua markers are removed by water or washing the finished project. The pens have a fine tip so they're great for detailed marking, like stencils. On the downside, the marks may become fixed if ironed before washing out, so be careful if you are ironing your project as you go along. For this reason Paula prefers not to use an aqua marker for large quilting projects, as pressing during the quilting is needed.
