The morning after a night of drinking is never fun with a hangover. For most of us, hangovers involve a headache, fatigue, thirst and nausea. But some people also report experiencing what is being dubbed as ‘hangxiety’ — feelings of anxiety while suffering from a hangover. By some estimates, hangxiety affects around 12 per cent of people and can vary in severity depending on the individual.
Physiology of a hangover
Drinking more alcohol in one night than the male or female body can safely metabolise causes a state of physiological stress. Generally speaking, physiological stress happens when the body is under pressure, such as from an illness or injury. A hangover works in a similar way. Not only does it cause changes to
