Cutting

1 Cut a snippet off each of the cream and yellow print fabrics and use them to create a swatch card. Label the fabrics and refer to the card as you cut and piece your project. See the note about the diagrams on page 53. You may also wish to write the colour used in the diagrams for each fabric on the swatch card.

From cream print fabric #1, cut:

• seven strips, 5in x width of fabric. Cross cut them to yield 50 squares, 5in (blocks)

• six strips, 3in x width of fabric. Cross cut them to yield 20 rectangles, 3in x 9½in and four squares, 3in (Border 1)

• 29 strips, 1½in x width of fabric. Cross cut them to yield 60 rectangles, 1½in x 9½in, 100 rectangles, 1½in x 4½in and 24 rectangles, 1½in x 3in (blocks, sashing and Border 1)

• three strips, 2in x width of fabric. Cross cut them to yield 48 squares, 2in (blocks)
