Quilters Companion

Flying Home

This is another of our favourite quilt projects from Homespun magazine.

It appeared in issue 13.01, published in January 2012. Although the block looks complex, it is constructed using only two different units — pieced squares made from half-square triangles and Flying Geese. To make a block, you will choose 10 fabrics in a range of values. One fabric will be used for the triangles that lie around the outer edge of the block and another for the rectangles that lie on the diagonal in each corner of the block. Then, match the remaining eight fabrics in four pairs and they will be used to make pieced squares.
