Our motorhome

We have been motorhoming for at least 25 years. Before that we camped then caravanned as our family grew up. Even now we often travel along with one of our daughters and family in our two motorhomes, three generations together, mostly to France.

When we changed to motorhomes we fitted out an LDV 400, and sent an article, which featured in MMM August 1997. Then, after a visit to Le Bourget show near Paris, we bought an empty insulated shell from 3C Cartier and fitted out a second camper based on a Fiat chassis. MMM accepted another article for the September 2005 edition.

We like the show at Le Bourget, where thousands of Vans are parked around the old airfield, with five hangars full of vehicles and accessories and an air museum alongside. We thought about replacing the Cartier then, in 2015, found a Carthago 142 Sport we liked and ended up ordering it.

It was a lovely’van, but the transverse bed, though very comfortable, was not so practical when one had to climb over the other to get up in the night. So, September 2019 found us back at the show where we found our
