If you’re picking or foraging dandelions, it’s best to avoid roadsides because of pollutants, and always wash them properly before use. Always ID three times when foraging, and leave plenty behind for the birds, bees and biodiversity.

Dandelion is an all-round medicinal powerhouse. Its root, brewed in tea, is used to support the liver, encourage healthy intestinal (gut) flora, and stimulate the digestive processes through its bitter flavour. The roots can also be roasted and used in many ways. The flowers are edible and best when you pull the free yellow parts (florets or petals) off the flower head from the tough green base.
