This is not a fancy slice, or a tricky one. It doesn’t photograph particularly well and looks much the same on your friend’s beaten-up old chopping board as on a pretty plate. Because this one is not about appearances. It’s chocolate caramel slice – a happy-dance in a mouthful.
CHOCOLATE CARAMEL SLICE
BASE
150g self-raising flour (see recipe, below)
45g desiccated coconut
155g brown sugar (see recipe, below)
125g butter, melted
CARAMEL
395g tin sweetened condensed milk, or 500ml (2 cups) of homemade condensed milk (see recipe, below)
