ust over a decade ago, I fired two shots on a farm shooting range that changed my life. I was checking the zero of my .375 H&H and, not wanting to expose my (new and expensive) electronic earmuffs to the extremely dusty conditions on the farm, left them at the hunting lodge. Big mistake… I fired two shots from underneath a small, corrugated iron roof covering the shooting bench and immediately noticed some discomfort in my right ear. An hour later, my ear started ringing and later that day, the left one did the same. Of course it was tinnitus, the medical term used to describe the incessant ringing in your ears when your hearing has been damaged. It lasted many months, and believe me, it was very annoying. A visit to an audiologist and then an ear, nose and throat specialist confirmed that I had
