FINDING sumac

I originally had a couple of other titles lined up for this article: “Searching for sumac” or “A sumac sortie”, since alliteration seems to come naturally to me. Then I remembered again a recent scathing attack on alliteration as a style by someone who I regard as knowledgeable in the writing field. Nevertheless, both would have conveyed something about the journey and the quest to find sumac in Johannesburg, a little over ten years ago.
