SUCCESSFUL SODEM RUN

This year’s SoDEM road run took place on Saturday 13 November. SoDEM stands for the Society of Drivers and Enginemen and their November runs always raise money for the Poppy Appeal. The 2021 run, unlike recent ones, took participants from different starting points rather than one single start to the picturesque Trout Inn at Lechlade, says Dick Bodily.

Five full-size steam engines, plus a miniature, gathered at John which previously belonged to his friend David Prince of Manitoba, Canada. It is to receive a new boiler and firebox, John has already tacked up the latter’s plates and will fully weld it shortly Everyone looks forward to seeing back on the UK circuit after its 27-year exile in Canada. Also being worked on were Garrett 4CD tractor No. 33370 and Burrell SRL No. 3489
