The article about the firm of Straker-Squire by Allan Bedford in OG 408 was excellent and contained details about most, if not all, of the firm’s products over the relatively few years it was in existence.
The firm started life as Bayley-Straker at Newington in London and a steam wagon was produced under that name which took part in the well-known Liverpool trials of Motor Vehicles held at the end of July 1899. This was fitted with a Straker engine and a De Dion type boiler. The firm initially had an office at 9 Bush Lane and then in Cannon Street, both in London; a works was located at Blackfriars from 1906 onwards and another at Edmonton. As time progressed, several wagon components were made
