About 50 km outside Upington and 120 km south of Askham. The guesthouse sleeps six people in three en suite rooms with fans and/or air conditioning, electricity and gas. It’s self-catering but meals are available on request and there are braai facilities. R400 p.p.
The bush camp has two selfcatering huts next to a dam – the walls are built with the branches of three-thorn bushes. Lights, hot showers and flush toilets. Hut with two beds R750 per night; four beds R950.
The campsite next to the dam has a self-catering kitchen with a two-plate stove and lights, braai facilities and ablution facilities. R160 p.p.
Firewood for sale: R35 for a bundle; R80 for a big bag. Cool down in the swimming pool, hike, ride your mountain bike, watch birds or buy something lekker at the farm stall (see sidebar on p 114).

About 60 km south of Askham. The guesthouse sleeps six people in three double rooms. There is also a garden cottage that sleeps three people. It has a fridge, a gas stove and a shelf full of interesting books about the area. Guests have access to the garden, swimming pool, braai facilities and fireplace. Walk in the dunes or book a sundowner outing (R150 p.p.) to a high dune. Owner Lizette Knoetze will tell you more about the history, agriculture and vegetation of this arid region. Up to 72 bird species have been identified here, including 11 kinds of lark.
