ROCK & ROLL WEEKEND

THERE’S NO SUCH THING as a quiet night in when you’re Jane and Jimmy Barnes. When they’re not on tour, they love to host dinner parties at their riverfront property in Bowral in the NSW Southern Highlands. “We call it a rock and roll weekend,” Jimmy says. “It’s not a late-night bender or anything like that, it’s just a time when we can make a weekend out of whatever days we have off. In the entertainment industry, you’re working every Friday and Saturday night when everyone else is out celebrating. So this is our chance to get together with friends and family and not have to leave to do a show.”

Their home is the ideal setting for an alfresco gathering. “It’s our little slice of paradise. There’s fresh air, beautiful birds and we’ve got our own vegie garden and little orchard,” Jimmy says. “It’s a beautiful place to entertain,” Jane adds.

Thailand-born Jane is the boss when it comes to entertaining. “Jane is in charge of the menu and does most of the cooking, but everyone pitches in,” Jimmy says.
