Relax INTO YOGA
THE CONDITION OF THE breath is key with vinyasa krama yoga – it drives the practice. A unique type of breath called ujjayi is harnessed which slows the breath right down, which in turn slows the mind. Follow this simple 15-minute routine, synchronising each movement with the breath, and you are sure to feel calm, stretched and peaceful.
Traditionally, vinyasa krama includes pranayama (breath control), pratyahara (sense withdrawal) and meditation. These elements follow the asana practice. Since these are best taught in person, seek a local yoga teacher for instruction.
This flow has been created assuming moderate strength and flexibility. The intention is for you to feel comfortable within each posture, which you may repeat several times or hold for several breaths. Repeating an asana creates strength throughout the range, whilst holding the pose creates stamina. Pain is not a feature of yoga, so if you feel any, move on to the next. Work to your individual capacity.
