Being sleep-deprived can trigger a headache, but so can a lie-in. Research shows that sleeping in at the weekend for just half an hour can cause a headache, especially in coffee addicts. Professor MacGregor says, ‘Because caffeine affects the blood vessels in the brain, reduction at the weekends, exacerbated by low blood-sugar due to a later breakfast, can cause pain.’ Stick to up to four cups of coffee a day
