QI have recently discovered that my daughter’s boyfriend of two months is self-harming. I am concerned for him, of course, but my big fear is that my daughter will start self-harming too. She had a period of bad depression last year and is vulnerable.
I have tried to talk to her about it but she refuses to discuss their relationship with me – I found out about the self-harm through another parent. They are both 16. I am so worried. What can I do to support her? Name supplied
A Self-harm is frightening for all concerned, including the person doing it. You your against anyone who tries to hurt her, but what if she’s the one doing the harm?
