Tragedies surrounding teenage and young-adult mental health are often the most saddening to read about, especially when a young life is snuffed out by suicide.
In Britain, 14-year-old Molly Russell committed suicide in November 2017 after viewing harmful content online linked to self-harm, suicide, anxiety and depression. Her death sparked a huge public outcry about the effects of social media on impressionable teens. More recently, South Africans were left heartbroken reading about the case of a 13-year-old Pretoria girl who took her own life in February after she was allegedly bullied by her peers on a popular online messaging
