An investment firm gives stylish American-made brands a boost

Los Angeles-based bag designer Clare Vivier, clothing retailer Steven Alan, Seattle-based outdoor clothing company Filson and Detroit watch and bicycle manufacturer Shinola are among a group of design tastemakers whose simple-yet-chic aesthetics go hand in hand with ethical, made-in-America manufacturing practices. What these brands also share is an investor: Bedrock Manufacturing, a Texas-based investment firm headed by Fossil watch founder Tom Kartsotis and longtime principal Heath Carr, the company's CEO.
