About this series
Silver Spear is a famous traditional tune in the Folk Genre. Visit any Irish Pub around the world and you are likely to hear this tune during the evening. It is also a popular tune at Bush Dances. Like any well constructed piece of music, it is open to many interpretations, so feel free to adapt it for any ensemble or style you choose to play in.
Titles in the series (5)
- Irish Washerwoman
Irish Washerwoman is a famous traditional tune in the Folk Genre. Visit any Irish Pub around the world and you are likely to hear this tune during the evening. This book will guide you through the process of playing and understanding this great piece of music on the guitar. Like any well constructed piece of music, it is open to many interpretations, so feel free to adapt it for any ensemble or style you choose to play in. I recommend you learn at least two other Irish Folk Tunes and play them as a medley. Look at my ebooks for a selection of these great tunes arranged for guitar. There are many great examples of the piece on YouTube. Go to www.youtube.com and do a search for: Andre Rieu, The Dubliners, The Irish Drovers or The Chieftains.
- Cork Hornpipe (Harvest Home)
This book is the final in my first series of Irish Folk tunes for guitarists. If you learn to play these six tunes and understand the technique and theory, you will have gained some great repertoire and fantastic foundation skills. The moves and patterns in these tunes pop up everywhere in music, from Bach to Rock. Cork Hornpipe, also known as Harvest Home, is a lively dance and one of the most often recorded of the traditional Irish folk tunes.
- Drowsy Maggie
Who is this book for? Guitarists who play Blues, Country, Rock, Jazz, Classical or Steel String guitar. Anyone who wondered where the idea for "Whole Lotta Love" by Led Zeppelin originated or who wondered how to use the Dorian mode, and actually make it sound good! What will you get out of it? Firstly you will add a great piece to your repertoire, which can be played in practically any style you like. Secondly you will improve your melody playing, articulation and tone production, which translates to better lead guitar solos.
- Vivaldi, Theme from Spring, The Four Seasons
Vivaldi's Four Seasons is one of the most famous pieces of music ever written. This book shows you how to play the main theme on the guitar. What? A book with only one tune in it? Yes, that's right. But by the time you have worked through this book, you will really know that tune. This book shows you how to work in depth. Who is this book for? - Beginner guitarists who want to add great melodies to their repertoire. - Electric guitarists who want to play better lead guitar. - Fingerstyle guitarists who would like to add a great solo piece to their repertoire. - Guitarists who want to learn how to make the guitar ""speak"". - Guitarists who want to revitalise their playing. What we will learn in this project ? - The theme to a famous piece of music. - Ornaments - E major on the first string. - Tonic, Sub-dominant and Dominant chords. - Syncopation - Temporary Displacement of the Left Hand
