Description

MODERN Minorities - New Name, Same Conversations
“Model Minorities” is a provocative term - often used to create a wedge between racial groups. After all, if one minority is a model, what does that say about the others? This podcast is meant to be about conversations on work and life, told thru the lens of race and gender. As two Asian American hosts, we thought “Model Minorities” - while of negative origins - was a name we could take back, and turn on it’s head.

We were wrong. After some heavy conversations - with guests, friends, and strangers - it’s time for a new name.

We uncover the stories, perspectives and often unspoken truths about how people uniquely experience the world. It doesn’t matter where you’re from, the color of your skin, or who you love - we are no one’s Model Minority - but we are all MODERN Minorities

Sharon Lee Thony and Raman Sehgal are two MODERN MINORITIES - Asian-American industry pros "making it" (?) - even though they never became the doctors their parents wanted them to be. Each week, they are joined by folks of all stripes - entrepreneurs, corporates, athletes, reporters, politicians, entertainers, and more - to uncover how our different cultural backgrounds shape how we uniquely experience the world. MODERN MINORITIES is a collection of conversations about work and life through the lens of race and gender. It is a show where we talk about “the thing” that everyone is thinking about, but nobody is actually talking about it. New episodes drop weekly.
