Description
Century Club is your weekly shot of what's new in music. Every week, the Tunes & Tumblers team bring you a mini pairing of a recent release and a craft shooter to keep your quarantine interesting. Make all the shots to enter the esteemed club yourself.
Remember 1999? TLC, Cher, and Ricky Martin may have been blowing up the pop charts, but an unassuming trick skating game brought punk rock to the suburbs en masse. If you're geezers like us, you'll remember how Tony Hawk's Pro Skater drove a dump truck through the pop landscape, introducing a whole generation to punk, ska, and of course Goldfinger's "Superman." Sony dropped us into a time machine a couple weeks ago when they re-released Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2 for a whole new generation of gamers. With it comes a soundtrack of 37 new artists on the bleeding edge of the underground. One of whom, Aussie garage punk prodigy Alex Lahey, takes the center stage with her addition to the game "Misery Guts." And in keeping with the DIY focus, LA punk group Brain Anchor drops by the pod to grace us with a quarantine session performance of their song "New Park" plus an unreleased track just for Tunes & Tumblers fans.

BONUS! - Break-Ups, Concerts & Coping with Change (feat. Liz Brownstein, Alex Marino, & talker): What do you mean there’s no new episode today? Someone may have thrown our schedule into a wood chipper (not that we’re naming names, Ryan), but we didn’t want to let the day pass without giving you a sip of Tunes & Tumblers goodness. We reached back into our archives to bring you some tasty morsels we unfortunately had to cut from previous episodes. Strap on your headphones and hear us drunkenly dive into our favorite break-up songs with Liz Brownstein, our most memorable concert memories with Alex Marino, and what songs have changed meaning for us as we grow older, wiser, and grayer. We won’t be gone for long though. Mark your calendars for this Friday 11/15 when another delicious pairing and interview will hit the airwaves Cheers until then! --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/tu by Tunes & Tumblers
