Description
On this week’s episode, Topher and Jeff welcome Blake Geoffrion & Sam Jefferies. Sam wrote the book, “Legacy On Ice,” about Blake’s life as a fourth-generation NHLer and hockey royalty. In 2010 Blake became the first University of Wisconsin hockey player to win the Hobey Baker Award, and in 2012, his promising NHL career was cut short by a devastating injury that almost cost him his life. Blake’s ability to storytell is UNMATCHED, and you will not be disappointed!
In this episode we talk about:
— What drove Sam to write the book
— Triumph, tribulation, and resiliency
— Blake’s journey from growing up in Nashville, to playing at Culver and the NTDP before Wisconsin, the Hobey, and his pro career
— Have we mentioned the story telling? (Seriously. Press play now, thank us later.)
AND SO MUCH MORE!

Episode 58 - Vinny Smith: On this episode of the Hockey Think Tank podcast, we bring on Vinny Smith, who helps run one of the most successful midget programs in the US in the North Jersey Avalanche. Under Vinny and his team's watch, North Jersey has moved an incredible amount of kids to the junior and college ranks through their emphasis on player development. In this episode, we talk about many topics relating to high level youth hockey including Exposure vs. Development, Coaching the Individual AND the team, the college commitment process, and even the new emphasis on USA Hockey's "no banging on the boards" rule. It was a great conversation with a lot of insight...thank you for tuning in!! *Opening music: Forget the Whale - Take to the Skies (Instrumental) by The Hockey Think Tank Podcast
