Description

Bula, Ma’lelei, Talofa and Welcome to Season 07 Episode 68 of Breakfast Bites, by TeivovoSports.com – a wrap of Pasifika people’s sports news, on a sunny and bright Tuesday morning 12 December 2023.Coming to you with tons of hanisi from the 180th meridian in the middle of the Blue Continent. In rugby union: All the talk around Kava bowls in Fiji about sacking Ben Gollings is rubbish – Fiji Men are third, equal on 30 points with South Africa who are second, both chasing Argentina on 38 after the Cape Town 7s.Fijiana are fourth in the Women’s standings.A Coach can only do so much. Viva los Pumas! In rugby league: St George Illawarra playmaker Junior Amone has avoided prison after he was found guilty of arming himself with a hammer and chasing a tradesman off a roof during a heated dispute. But the 21-year-old walked out of Wollongong Local Court on Monday without his father Talatau Amone who was sentenced for two and a half years with a non-parole period of 12 months for the same incident.Meanwhile in another Aussie Court yesterday, Daily Telegraph and Fox Sports rugby league journalist, Paul Kent is fighting allegations he attacked a 33-year-old woman at his home in May, 2023.Police allege the pair were involved in a domestic dispute before Mr Kent assaulted and choked the woman. He was arrested by NSW Police at the home shortly after.Body-worn footage played before a hearing at Downing Centre District Court on Monday showed the woman telling officers that Mr Kent had had his hands “around my neck”.In football: Australian superstar Sam Kerr delivered a perfect taunt to rival fans after Chelsea were defeated by Arsenal on Sunday. After the game, with Kerr stuck in traffic, boisterous Gunners fans broke out into chants of “Arsenal, Arsenal” in the direction of Kerr sitting in the passenger seat. The Aussie striker, quick as a flash, threw up four fingers to remind her foes just how many Women’s Super League titles Chelsea has won.Arsenal fans however were quick to point out that Kerr flashed the exact number of goals Arsenal scored in their 4-1 win to hand Chelsea their first loss of the season. In combat sports: Devin Haney beat Regis Prograis by unanimous decision in his division debut to win the WBC Super Welterweight title in front of a sellout crowd in his hometown San Francisco, home of the Golden State Warriors on Saturday night. All three judges scored the bout 120-107 in Haney's favor. It was Haney's first fight as a super welterweight since he made the decision to move up after having trouble making weight at lightweight, where he is the undisputed champion.Haney is now a two division champion. In SportsBiz: Early projections for the 2024 NFL salary cap are coming in at more than US$240Million, representing a significant increase over this season’s US$224.8M that each team is allowed to allocate for player contracts. This season, revenue from the NFL’s new US$110Billion media rights deals kicked in, adding a big boost to overall league cash intake. When final numbers come in, 2023 will represent another record year for the NFL.In 2022, the league is believed to have brought in close to US$20B in revenue — inching the NFL’s 32 owners closer to their long-stated goal of US$25B annual revenue.Come 2024, there is no reason to think the NFL’s billions won’t be even bigger, either. And that’s a wrap! For TeivovoSports.com I’m Culden Kamea – please hit the like and subscribe buttons below if you want to receive more Pasifika sports highlights on Breakfast Bites.Mahalo, Kakite and tank you all too mas for all your love and support.#TEIVOVORugby #TEIVOVODigital #TeivovoRugby #TeivovoDigital #rugby #rugby7s #FijiRugby #rugbyunion #rugbyleague #Raka #team #rugbytraining #sports #FRU #Fiji #womensrugby #rugbygirls #wrugby #ladiesrugby #womeninsport #woman #rugby #rugby7s #FijiRugby #rugbyunion #rugbyleague #fitness #weightlifting #training #team #rugbytraining #sports #rakavi #DevelopmentFiji
