Description
In this episode of the Liver Series, Dr. Niket Sonpal discusses drug-induced liver injury (DILI), a common and potentially serious side effect of many medications. DILI can occur in people of all ages, but is more common in older adults and people with pre-existing liver disease. DILI can be caused by a wide variety of medications, including over-the-counter medications, prescription drugs, and herbal supplements. Some of the most common medications that cause DILI include Tylenol, NSAIDS such as Advil and Aleve. DILI is usually treated by stopping the medication that is causing the injury. But, in severe cases, the patient may need to be hospitalized. October 2, 2023 — Do you work in primary care medicine?
