Description

Malo and welcome to Season 3 Episode 26 of Breakfast Bites, by TeivovoSports.com – a wrap of Pasifika Peoples sports on this sunny Wednesday morning 26 October 2022, coming to you from paradise on the 180th meridian in the middle of the Pacific Ocean! In rugby – Italian rugby player, Sara Tounesi has copped a three months suspension for biting in her Women’s Rugby World Cup match against Japan which Italy won 21-8. Japanese flanker Iroha Nagata attempted to tell the Referee during the game, but was waved away. Later, Nagata showed the referee her hand, who recounts that there were no teeth marks. In written evidence after the game, Nagata said she was bitten twice and that it got “harder over a five-second period”. Denying the claim, Tounesi insisted she was shouting "la balla" to signify that the ball was available to her team-mates. At the Rugby League World Cup – after overcoming a sluggish start, Mate Ma’a Tonga overpowered Wales 32-6 at St Helens yesterday. Tonga will now look to build momentum against the Cook Islands in round three before a likely quarter-final showdown against Toa Samoa. With the inspirational Jason Taumalolo back from suspension and injured pair Moses Suli and Isaiya Katoa also returning, Mate Ma’a Tonga Head Coach, Kristian Woolf is confident his team has their best footy ahead of them as the RLWC starts to heat up. In football – He’s back! Cristiano Ronaldo has returned to first-team training with Man U and is in contention for Thursday's Europa League game at Old Trafford against Sheriff Tiraspol. The 37-year-old refused to come on as a substitute in the 89th minute in their 2-0 win against Tottenham Hotspur last Wednesday and was dropped for Saturday's 1-1 draw with Chelsea as a result. The Portuguese super star said that his walk down the tunnel was in the "heat of the moment". In Formular One – Formula One paid tribute to the late Red Bull and Red Bull Racing owner Dietrich Mateschitz at the American Grand Prix in Austin Texas on Sunday. Drivers, teams and fans came together for a minute’s applause to celebrate the life of Mateschitz, who died the day before, aged 78. “He was a man that inspired so much, he is the reason that we are here”, Red Bull Racing team principal Christian Horner said. The Red Bull owner also owned the 7-star Laucala Island Resort in Fiji. In tennis – barely a month after she officially retired, saying that she would be “evolving away from tennis”, 23-time Grand Slam champion Serena Williams has hinted on Good Morning America that she may make a comeback! “I mean, you never know,” Williams said. “I think Tom Brady started a really cool trend.” Tom Brady? He’s getting a divorce right – is she still married? Geez girl, Tom Brady? You never can tell with these Americans. In boxing – World Heavyweight Champion, Tyson Fury is releasing his debut single, a remake of Neil Diamond's "Sweet Caroline", in aid of men’s mental health charity Talk Club. "Sweet Caroline is a song I’ve always loved and I’m excited to record and release it," Fury said in a statement.
