SHOW SUMMARYGet ready for a wild ride on today's episode of What the Duck?! Host extraordinaire Sarah Scudder teams up with Dave Crysler, the guru of consultants and the mastermind behind the "Everyday Business Problems" podcast. They're taking a dive into the nitty-gritty world of making businesses tick in the manufacturing sector. They kick things off with Dave's journey through the twists and turns of printing and manufacturing. They're breaking out the big guns and dishing on the game-changing prioritization matrices. Sounds fancy, right? But don't be fooled, it's all about tackling problems like a pro and supercharging how things get done. SHOW HIGHLIGHTSDave’s Expertise in Operational Improvements for Sustainable Business Growth Working at Ennis and Journey to Entrepreneurship Strategic Implementation of Technology in Manufacturing How Prioritization Matrices Help Address Challenges EffectivelyInsight into Tackling Supply Chain IssuesMethods to Enhance Operations Efficiency in Manufacturing MOMENTS TO DUCK AROUNDDAVE: The Importance of a Well-Defined Process“The big challenges for me are: how do we attract and retain top talent? And you can't do that if you don't have well-defined and documented processes. You also can't do that if you don't have technology on the back end to help you execute those processes. Now, all of that said, right, you can't go at it and say, 'Well, technology is our problem.' It could be. I mean, it certainly could be, and there's always a case to be made for automating or upgrading or looking at other solutions. But to me, where the opportunity lies to attract and retain top talent is in your planning and your processes. The people side comes in the form of engaging the people, engaging the people that are closest to and adjacent to the processes, so you can tap into that collective brain power and actually move the needle in your business. That over the course of time and looking at your business from a systems perspective is going to be what creates sustainable business growth.” DAVE: Pain Points in Supply Chain Management “Coming off of COVID, we've obviously had a lot of, you know, kind of overarching supply chain issues, right? So, to me, it depends on where the pain point is. If you're struggling from a supplier standpoint, you know, that's where I that I'm gonna go, where the flames are the hottest and the highest first. And then I'm going to start to peel that onion layer back. You know, generally though, you can have the biggest and quickest impact internally. And generally, those internal kind of levers are going to help you externally. Because what you'll probably find as you start to move internal to external, there are things that are happening that will impact your supply chain. So, it could be communication-related, right? You know, kind of gets back to what you all do. It's that back and forth communication.” Connect with Dave and learn what he’s been duckin’ around with:Dave Crysler | The Crysler Club Connect with Sarah and find out more about what the duck she’s up toLinkedIn |Twitter |SourceDay |SourceDay.com Had fun with the podcast? And it could be one of them, or the three of them at once, but one is doing a voice of the supplier survey where you're actually asking suppliers, what are the things that we're doing right? What are the things we're doing wrong?” MARK: UNDERSTAND YOUR WORK HOLISTICALLY “Technology is not a key success factor, right?
