The New York Yankees lost in excruciating fashion on a walk-off by the Miami Marlins on Sunday afternoon, turning a winning series into a losing series in a matter of just a few batters in the bottom of the ninth. The Yankees had a 7-3 lead, and Clay Holmes, who had been lights out for the better part of the month, had a rare bad outing that turned the game into an 8-7 Marlins win. There were some positives this weekend in Miami, and Stacey and Steve tried to parse through them. Like the offense scoring 17 runs in the three games, Anthony Volpe having a good weekend offensively, and the Yankees getting to Jesús Luzardo on Friday night. But Sunday’s loss will leave a bad taste in everyone’s mouth as the Yankees have to head to Atlanta to face the best team in baseball for three games.
