Description
Michael Gungor was brought up in a very traditional expression of the Christian faith. If you've frequented contemporary churches, you've likely sang a song he wrote, "Beautiful Things." Multiple-Grammy Award nominated artist and at the peak of exposure in the Christian music industry about a decade ago, his music career unraveled due to an unraveling of his Christian faith. As Michael started to verbalize his doubts, churches and other christian venues cancelled show and many Christians "washed their hands" of Michael Gungor. Michael recounts some moments of those tough days, including some backstory of his career, reflections on how Christians handled his faith loss, and how 2023's older and wiser version of Michael would walk out that season if it unfolded today instead. He also shares some weaknesses, things in life he'd like to get better at, and schools us all on what the power of love can look like amidst social media wars and in the cancel culture so prevalent in today's society. At the top of the episode, Pastor Josh Surratt hangs with Lynne and Joey reflect on some of Michael's story, ponder how Christians treat those who lose their faith, and Lynne saved a puppy, which happened to belong to Joey's wife.Stay ConnectedWebsite | Facebook Discussion Page In this episodeMichael Gungor / Site / Spotify / Instagram Josh Surratt, co-host / Instagram Lynne Stroy, co-host / InstagramJoey Svendsen, co-host / InstagramExecutive Producer: Josh SurrattProducer/Editor: Joey SvendsenSound Engineer/Editor: JT PriceSound Engineer: Katelyn VandiverMusic, theme song: Joel T.
