Description

A real story of letting go of one's life, losing it to find the abundant life God wants to lead all humanity to  (Matthew 10:39).  Growing up and still residing in Charleston S.C,  by age 25, Angie Mizzell was a morning news anchor at a top-rated television station. She had married her college sweetheart, and scenes from their wedding day ran on the evening news. She’d achieved everything her mom had wanted for her and what she thought she wanted for herself. But after signing with an agent who promised to take her career to the next level, Angie began to realize that a future in the spotlight would not dim a past filled with childhood trauma and loss. As a television journalist, she’d made a living by exploring and reporting other people’s stories; it was time to examine her own.In her coming-of-age memoir, “Girl in the Spotlight,” Angie shares a heartfelt and hopeful story of arriving at a crossroads, getting lost in the darkness, learning to let go, and finding her way back home.  Angie joins in studio, fresh off this new release.  In this episodeAngie Mizzell / Instagram / Site / Book / Substack Joey Svendsen, host / InstagramStay ConnectedWebsite | Facebook Discussion PageExecutive Producer: Josh SurrattProducer/Editor: Joey SvendsenSound Engineer/Editor: JT PriceSound Engineer: Katelyn VandiverMusic, including theme song: Joel T. The Seacoast Podcast: Things You Won't Hear On Sunday captures meaningful – and often challenging -- conversations that happen off the stage amongst the people of Seacoast. Hang with us and guests we love to learn from, including authors, artists, pastors, and many others who share their stories of struggle and oftentimes, how God's grace brought about peace and redemption. We hope listening in to our discussions revolving around church, theology, and culture will feel like slowing down and hanging with friends. You'll be encouraged, laugh, find solidarity with someone else's story, or see things from a new point of view. What if listening to other perspectives was the first step in loving people with a different point of view? We're giving it a shot.
