Description

Much like their human owners, many pets suffer from diabetes. This disease, in which the body is unable to process glucose for cellular energy, can develop as a result of a failure of the pancreas to produce insulin or when the body is unable to process the insulin (often because of inhibitors in excessive fat.)  Dr. Sarah Wooten is a veterinarian, author, speaker, and game creator who has a passion for bridging the information divide between veterinarians and pet parents. She brings a particular passion for canine and feline diabetes to the podcast and walks us through the leading signs of diabetes and how we can prevent and treat the disease. Here are links to the information we talked about today: Learn more about Dr. Wooten at her website “Diabetes in Pets” from the American Veterinary Medical Association Got a question for Michael and Stephen? The Family Pet is a podcast for curious pet parents. We believe that the more you know about pet healthcare, the better pet parent you can be. Advancements in the veterinary industry have provided pet parents with more care options than ever before, but all these choices can leave pet parents with feelings of confusion and uncertainty when it comes to making decisions in the veterinary office. The Family Pet hosts and guests bring their years of veterinary experience and expertise to the microphone to share useful information which will help you have a better understanding of the veterinary care options available. We will empower you with the knowledge to make educated decisions regarding your pet’s healthcare needs, and help you be the human that your pet already thinks you are!
