University of Houston Football's inaugural season in the Big 12 Conference will feature visits to TDECU Stadium from in-state rivals TCU and Texas with additional home league matchups against Cincinnati, Oklahoma State and West Virginia, the league office announced on a Tuesday.
Houston's Big 12 opener and conference home opener will take place Sept. 16 against national championship runner-up TCU. The matchup will be the 26th all-time between the Cougars and No. 3-ranked Horned Frogs and first on the campus of the University of Houston since Oct. 25, 2003.
The Cougars and Longhorns face off Oct. 21 for the first time since Sept. 21, 2002. The two teams are meeting for the first time as league foes since Nov. 11, 1995, as co-Southwest Conference members. Houston is looking for its first win against Texas since Nov. 9, 1991, when it defeated Texas for a third-straight time at the Astrodome.
