The Tampa Bay Rays took the series against the holders of the best record in the National League, the Pittsburgh Pirates. Wednesday’s blowout victory (8-1) started as a pitcher’s duel between Shane McClanahan and Mitch Keller. However, the Pittsburgh defense let Keller down and the Rays were able to capitalize on the many defensive miscues. In between the action, Wander Franco unveiled a new flip of the baseball while playing defense, Josh Lowe had a massive homer and Jose Siri showed off his speed. Thursday’s finale will be a day game featuring Zach Eflin for the Rays.
