SOKOLOW intuitively knew food was fuel, but it wasn’t until her early 20s when she was hired to work with award-winning chef Jamie Oliver on his “Jamie’s American Food Revolution” television show set in in the LA Unified School District, that she understood that it feeds the soul as well. In her debut book, THIS IS WHAT I EAT: FUN ACTIVITIES FOR MINDFUL EATING (Random House Children’s Books; January 3, 2023), Aliza looks to share her passion for healthy eating with kids, helping them better understand not only what we eat, but how we eat it!“Working with Jamie Oliver changed my life,” explains Aliza. “I was able to work elbow to elbow with kids in schools in underserved communities, many of them had type 2 diabetes and were overweight. They had never eaten salad and their recess times were being cut down. I was able to see first-hand how the food you eat plays a major part in how you feel, your health, and the environment. Eating and cooking with these kids when I was 24 lit a spark in me. I knew that this was what I wanted my life mission to be. I want to help kids eat a little better, support their local farms, grow their own, and feel confident. Food can change your life and your world.”In THIS IS WHAT I EAT, a bold and bright activity book, Aliza shares her love of fruits, veggies, and allthings yummy with kids just starting to explore their own dietary preferences. This book is the ultimate journey for little foodies and picky eaters alike. With a deliciously global perspective and a focus on community and humanity, this book is filled with 30+ activities and journal pages, making it a great keepsake of their culinary self-exploration.Activities include:Grow a tomato plant at home! What grown-up foodie job is right for YOU!How to build a yummy salad!World maps of all our favorite produce! How to save our planet, one batch of compost at a time!Foodie Facts from around the world!Thank you to our sponsor for this episode Just Thrive Probiotics. you can get 15% off sitewide at justthrivehealth.com with promo code: Natsav15.
