The Katherine Massey Book Club @ The C.O.W.S. hosts the debut 11th study session on Mário Filho's 1947 The Black Man in Brazilian Soccer, translated to English by Jack A. Draper III. Low and behold, on the same day that there was a deadly school shooting in Nashville, Tennessee, a 13-year-old White Brazilian teenager stabbed a teacher to death. They've had at least three school attacks in Brazil since November of 2022, the shooters have donned Nazi paraphernalia in two of the attacks. During last week's session, Fihlo detailed how a black soccer player, Leônidas, was nearly lynched for driving reckless after the ball games. Gus was struck by the lack of context for lynchings in Brazil - how frequent were these murders attacks?
