The Midwest regional semifinals (Sweet 16) will take place on Friday night in Kansas City, pitting (1)Houston vs. (5)Miami and (2)Texas vs. (3)Creighton. The Houston / Miami matchup is one of the most intriguing of the Sweet 16 round. The backcourts matchup well (Marcuss Sasser/Jamal Shead vs. Isaiah Wong/Nigel Pack), the wings matchup well (Tramon Mark vs. Jordan Miller), the frontcourt matches up well (Jarace Walker vs. Norchad Omier). Texas vs. Creighton should be a matchup of the Longhorn backcourt vs. the Creighton frontcourt.

In the South, Alabama has a pretty clear path to their first ever Final Four. As long as Brandon Miller is healthy and Jahvon Quinerly continue to run the show effectively. Creighton is likeliest of the South teams to give Nate Oats’ team a run for their money.
