This week we discuss the differences between Interior Design and Interior Decorating. The goal of this discussion is to help you discern whom to hire when seeking design service. This conversation is our perspective and it is not meant to alienate or say which profession is better. As Interior Designers we require formal education and our focus is on creating a functional healthy space that adds aesthetic value. We are required to know the building codes and A.D.A (Americans With Disabilities Act) standards and we provide architectural drawings as well as participate in the construction process. Interior Decorators focus on the aesthetics of how the space looks and requires no formal education.
