The news was not good for VGK and its fans. Mark Stone had his second back surgery in about nine months and will be shelved indefinitely. The Golden Knights will have to move quickly to fill his roster spot and they have $9.5-million to do so. The good news is Stone's back surgery was successful, although we don't know about his return. The team said he was injured Januarly 12 vs the Florida Panthers, but we could see visible signs of Stone breaking down earlier in the season. The VGK now has money to burn and they need to spend it ASAP to keep their sinking playoff hopes alive. The Golden Knights can benefit from the Patrick Kane Loophole, where they can bring in players to fill Stone's salary, then bring him back, if healthy, for the playoffs when there is no salary cap.
