The University of Texas has fired head coach Chris Beard with cause stemming from his felony domestic violence arrest. On Monday, December 12, news broke that Texas head coach Chris Beard had been arrested for, amongst other things, strangulating his fiancé, Randi Trew. Trew has since publicly retracted her statement, however it was only a matter of time before Texas pulled the trigger on firing Beard in the midst of his 2nd season.
 
Rodney Terry will continue as the interim head coach. The Longhorns are 5-1 since Beard’s suspension, the lone loss coming earlier this week at home to Kansas State. Class of 2023 commit Ron Holland had recently reaffirmed his commitment to the Horns; we’re curious to see how this will affect he and other commits going forward.
 
In other news, with the non-conference portion of the schedule complete, it’s a great time to look at whose NBA draft stock has risen or fallen. CBS Sports’ Kyle Boone gives us a glimpse into his most recent mock draft, which dropped on Thursday. Risers include Jett Howard and Brandon Miller, while fallers include Nick Smith, Jr. and Dereck Lively II.
