Description

In this DMC, we’re talking with Dr. Leslie Leslie Ginsparg Klein about the history of the Bais Yaakov Movement, the lessons and legacy of Sarah Schenirer, and about girls education today. Dr. Klein is the Academic Dean of Women’s Institute of Torah Seminary & College (correction: WITS is not affiliated with Maalot, as stated in the episode.) She speaks on Jewish history, Tanach, leadership and communication skills across the United States and internationally. Leslie received her Ph.D. from New York University, where she researched the history of Orthodox girls’ education in America and the Bais Yaakov movement, so she has a lot of insights to share with us on this topic. Here’s what we discuss in this episode:
Leslie’s background and influences in her life which formed her passion for women’s education
How Leslie decided to pursue a PhD on a religious topic in a secular institution
Her favorite takeaways in her study of the Bais Yaakov movement
Sarah Schenirer’s leadership legacy for us all
The successes in today’s girls’ education that are in line with Sarah Shenirer’s legacy; what still needs improvement
We’d love to hear from you.
