In this edition of Locked on Capitals Dan talks about the games over the weekend. The Capitals beat the Red Wings 2-0 with a goal from John Carlson and Lars Eller. The game also gave the Capitals their first look at Darcy Kuemper in a real game situation. Darcy Kuemper was spotless in the game's first half, stopping all nine shots he faced on the night.
The Capitals lost the second game of the weekend to the Columbus Blue Jackets 2-1. The Caps made a big push, but ultimately fell short in the 2-1 loss.
Sunday saw a round of cuts from the Caps team as Hershey opens camp on Monday. Washington sent Hendrix Lapierre and Vincent Iorio to Hershey while also placing Garrett Pilon, Bobby Nardella, Beck Malenstyn, Gabriel Carlsson, Dylan McIlrath and Zach Fucale on waivers.
