Description

Somewhere far away, deep under the Eastern sea, is a Dragon King with a treasure hoard piled high with gold, rubies, emeralds, jade, and every kind of treasure you can imagine. At least, that’s what legend says. In today’s story, one young man sets out on a perilous journey to find the Dragon King’s palace and recover the most precious of all his treasures- a pearl that shines by night. Judy Lubin’s retelling of this classic Chinese folk tale allows you to come along on a journey with the young man to seek that precious pearl. Along with that story, on today’s episode you’ll also get to hear an Abenaki folktale retold by Joseph Bruchac called “Gluskabe and the Water Monster”- the story of the famed Abenaki trickster and his confrontation with a giant, ugly water creature. And you’ll get to hear a personal story from the childhood of Adam Booth – a rollerskating adventure called “Roll-A Rama.” It’s all coming up on today’s episode of the Apple Seed- you won’t want to miss a word!

On today’s episode, enjoy the following:

“Roll-A-Rama” by Adam Booth from 210

Radio Family Journal: "In the Pool" by Sam Payne

The Daily Mix: "1895 Photo" with Bruce Walker
