Description

Silly parents, Lemon Balm is for kids!....Well, it’s for you grown-ups out there too. Lemon Balm is on my list of favorite plant friends not just because we share a name (Melissa officinalis is her given name), but also because it’s the perfect herb for this time of year. It’s a powerful ally against both those back-to-school germs and those back-to-school nerves. She is calming and soothing to both body and mind. Lemon Balm is a perennial herbaceous plant in the mint family and is now naturalized just about everywhere. The leaves have a mild lemon scent. During summer, small white flowers full of nectar appear. Being a relative of mint she is relatively easy to grow (but can be hard to contain). There’s lots of fun ways to use her as medicine. Keep your ears open for my Strawberry Lemon Balm Popsicle recipe; with those you won’t be able to keep this plant medicine out of your children’s tummy.I hope you enjoy this small, but mighty episode.Make sure you're nourishing your body and you're taking care of you from the inside out.
