– The Truman Charities Podcast: A Community of Caring with Jamie Truman Episode 28 Ria Freydberg
Ria Freydberg serves as the Executive Director for the Mid-Atlantic Region of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. After more than a decade in restaurant management, Ria was nominated to run for LLS’ Man & Woman of the Year campaign in memory of her mother. Ria lost her mother to acute myeloid leukemia and after participating in the campaign, new she had found a new love and passion for non-profits, specifically LLS. Shortly after, her mentors, Allison Gurnitz (then LLS Board Chair) and then Executive Director, Beth Gorman, recruited her to work for the National Capital Area Chapter. Fast forward ten years and Ria now oversees the Washington Metro Area and state of Maryland (aka the Mid-Atlantic) for LLS. She works tirelessly toward a world without cancer and, as the top producing region in the country, has an amazing team of volunteers and staff alongside her.
