Description

Elizabeth Workman

– The Truman Charities Podcast: A Community of Caring with Jamie Truman Episode 043
A native New Yorker/Connecticun, Elizabeth came to DC in 1988 and immediately fell in love with the city that would forevermore be called "home". A social service "junkie" since her teen years, Elizabeth focused her college education at George Washington University and gradate school education at American University in the areas of psychology and social services/family dynamics. Elizabeth is very fortunate to have worked for over 30 years in the DC nonprofit, social service sector including 10 years direct program and management services at Sasha Bruce Youthwork, Inc. and 5 years as Deputy Director of Fair Chance, focusing on strengthening area community-based nonprofits that work with children in poverty. Goods For Good became a true labor of love in 2018, in no small part thanks to the support of her husband and two daughters (and many, many cats!).

Listen to this uplifting Truman Charities episode with Elizabeth Workman about her charity “Goods For Good.”
Here is what to expect on this week’s show:
How Elizabeth’s daughter inspired their family to create Goods for Good
The increase of their volunteers and how they are 100% volunteer based!
An insight into some of their volunteer programs such as the “We Care” gift bags that were given to isolated seniors in the DMV area and how the handwritten notes included in them were so impactful and thoughtful.
