In this episode of Breaking Doctrine, our host, Major Chris Parker discusses the Army leadership and leader assessment, from both a doctrinal and institutional perspective. There have been several updates on both fronts over the past two years. The Army has begun the Battalion Commander Assessment Program, or BCAP, the Colonel Command Assessment Program, or CCAP. In addition, the Center for Army Profession and Leadership, or CAPL, has refined Project Athena, a career long leader assessment and self-development tool. Joined by Brigadier General Charles Masaracchia, Director of the Mission Command Center of Excellence; Sergeant Major Robert Ferguson, Sergeant Major, Mission Command Center of Excellence; Colonel Sam Saine, Director of the Center for the Army Profession and Leadership, or CAPL; and COL Rich Creed, Director of the Combined Arms Doctrine Directorate, or CADD.
