Description
In 2021, Oregon Football's offense struggled to consistently push the ball downfield in the passing game with Anthony Brown at quarterback. Over the weekend at their Spring Game at Autzen Stadium, there was not a shortage of explosive plays for Duck fans to enjoy--indicating, Oregon fans hope, that things could be different in that sense this Fall. This was the first look fans have gotten at the Kenny Dillingham-led offense, and the early returns seem to be promising when it comes to improving upon the weaknesses of the previous offensive staff.
On this episode of Locked On Pac-12, Spencer McLaughlin looks at the first Spring Game under Dan Lanning for Oregon Football. Most of the standout performers came on the offensive side of the ball, with wide receivers Seven McGee and Dont'e Thornton as the biggest standouts catching the ball--UCLA transfer Chase Cota also performed well. Aside from a few turnovers caused by the secondary (and some poor decision making from QBs), the biggest standout on defense was, by far, DJ Johnson.
The Spring Game provided fans with a stark comparison between the 3 scholarship quarterbacks. Despite many fans clamoring for former 5-star QB Ty Thompson, it seems clear that Bo Nix is the leader in the club house as Spring football comes to a close in Eugene. Regardless of who the Ducks line up behind center, it looks like he will have an array of capable weapons around him.
