Description

Through conversations I have had with Longhorn Nation about Quinn Ewers, two themes continue to develop more than others. Arm talent and growing pains. We understand that they're are going to be a lot of splash plays in Austin Texas this year, but we also understand that there will be some growing pains as well when implementing a new quarterback who is essentially a true freshman. Throughout the course of the season, Quinn Ewers will naturally develop and get better at the position because of experience. Once he gets more comfortable, you will start to see the splash plays more and more, and the growing pains less and less. So what can Steve Sarkisian, the leader of this ship, do to make sure that Quinn Ewers can be comfortable early on? That's what we discuss on today's episode of Locked on Longhorns. To me, its simple. The threat of Bijan Robinson getting the ball is going to carry this offense early on. Whether it is through the run pass option, playaction passes or bootlegs, these simplify the reads for the quarterback by threatening the ball being given to arguably the best offensive weapon in the country. Also, I think Steve Sarkisian should dial up deep shots early and allow Quinn to take them. Maintaining early leads this year will also be a key to make sure Quinn Ewers is comfortable. Next we talk about a season that should represent hope for the longhorns this year. With games against the Alabama Crimson Tide, Baylor Bears, Oklahoma Sooners and Oklahoma State Cowboys on the schedule, we will find a lot out about Quinn Ewers development and where he is at certain points of the season. Last but not least, Keondre Coburn said Byron Murphy is the best defensive player on this team. He's been my breakout candidate since April. What will a strong season from the true sophomore on the interior defensive line who is looking to improve on a rough 2021 season. Hook Em
